Course Rules

COURSE RULES

To help keep Herndon Centennial Golf Course safe and enjoyable for everyone, all players and spectators must follow these rules.

Golfers must check in at the Pro Shop at least 20 minutes before their scheduled tee time. Players who arrive late may be required to join their group on the course.  If the entire group is late, staff may move the group to another available tee time or cancel the reservation.

Players must maintain the required pace of play. A round of 18 holes must be completed in 4 hours and 30 minutes or less. Each group must keep pace with the group directly ahead.

Only players registered at the clubhouse and their accompanying spectators are permitted on the golf course.

Spectators must register in the golf shop before entering the course. Spectator carts are subject to the same fees and regulations as player carts, are available only when inventory permits, and may be withheld when needed for players.

A maximum of four players are permitted in a group. Management reserves the right to combine individuals and smaller groups into foursomes at its discretion.

Players are responsible for leaving the course when thunder or lightning occurs or when staff sounds a warning siren. If Herndon Centennial staff closes the course because of inclement weather, a rain check will be issued based on the number of holes played. Rain checks will not be issued for delays caused by slow play.

Formal golf instruction and club fitting may only be provided by Herndon Centennial Staff.

Junior golfers ages 6 through 11 must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older. Children younger than 6 are not permitted on the course. Children of any age may use the driving range and putting green when accompanied by an adult age 18 or older.

Golfers must help protect the course, facilities, and equipment. Report careless or unauthorized use of the course or facilities to the Golf Shop. A violation of these rules, or a failure to use reasonable care that damages the course, equipment, or other property, may result in suspension of golf privileges at Herndon Centennial.

Golfers are responsible and liable for any injuries or property damage that result from golf balls they hit. All incidents should be reported to the golf shop immediately.

No pets of any kind, except service animals assisting individuals with disabilities, are permitted on the golf course or practice area.

Walking, jogging, bicycling, skiing or other non-golf activities are not permitted on the golf course at any time.

Proper golf attire is required.

Soft spikes or tennis shoes are required. No metal spikes allowed.

Alcoholic beverages are prohibited unless purchased from the on-site concession, Egg Karne. Bringing outside alcohol onto the property violates Virginia ABC laws. Alcohol may be consumed only in designated areas.

Each player must have their own bag with at least six clubs.

The minimum age to rent or operate a golf cart is eighteen.

Golf carts must remain outside all restricted areas. Players must follow the daily cart rules, keep carts on paths around tee boxes and putting greens, including when using handicap flags, and stay behind the No Carts signs positioned in front of each green.

No more than two people may ride in a golf cart, including children and junior golfers. Single riders are permitted only when a group has an odd number of riders, and no group may use more than two carts per tee time. Players with an underlying health condition may request permission to ride alone.

Herndon Centennial staff reserves the right to combine riders in a power cart as needed.

Driving golf carts in a reckless manner is prohibited. Golfers will be liable for any damage to the golf cart or property.

Players are requested to repair ball marks on the green, divots in the fairway and on tee boxes and rake sand bunkers after each shot.

Carts must be returned to the clubhouse by the time posted in the Golf Shop.

Range balls must be used on the day they are dispensed. Range balls and their containers may not be removed from the facility, and range balls may not be used for playing on the course.
